Kindle Edition lacking.

The two star rating is for the kindle edition of the book. The Kindle edition is missing several figures and diagrams. The text formatting is terrible and the table of context is non-existant. Spend your money on the print book, I wish I did.

Great book, poor Kindle formatting

Dave Spaulding offers practical information on the use of the handgun in defensive combat. Unlike some trainers, he acknowledges that there may be more than one way to perform a task related to handgun use.

Dave also give good reasoning for why he does things a certain way, using economy of motion to accomplish the task most efficiently. I would jump at the chance to take a class with him.

I've only seen bits of Dave on 'Personal Defense' and have enjoyed his commentary and advice.
For a guy who isn't one of these new Tactical Upstart types he is absolutely up on the most effective techniques.
...even when they may fly in the face of the Old Guard's SOPs.
This tells me that Dave is not rigid and unwilling to change his mind should experience, evidence or the weight of accumulated facts over time indicate that one should adapt. ...or become extinct.
Show me a trainer who has never changed his mind and I'll show you a person who you should not listen to.

This book is the best book I've read thus far on technique and theory. Can't recommend it highly enough.
I'm sure other reviews have dug out the tired old "must have" cliche but I'll pile on.
This is an absolute must have if you're serious about your handling of firearms and are dedicate to continuous improvement.

About the Author

Prof. Maria G. Burns serves as the Director for the Center for Logistics & Transportation Policy, University of Houston, and as Lead of Workforce Development and Researcher in the DHS Center of Excellence for Borders, Trade and Immigration Research, led by the University of Houston. She is the author of the books Port Management & Operations (2014); Logistics & Transportation Security (2015), and Energy Security & Critical Infrastructure (2016). She is an Honorary Member in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, and Member in the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), whose role is to advise the Governor of Texas in matters of security.

In 2016, Prof. Burns received the "Excellence in Emergency Management Award" by the Emergency Management Association of Texas (EMAT). She has developed a series of training manuals approved by the US Coast Guard NMC. She is a Certified Auditor for Security (ISPS), Safety (ISM), Quality (ISO9001), and the Environment (ISO14001). She serves as Chair in the Supply Chain Security Subcommittee of the National Academies, Washington DC, and Member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), and the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME).

It was refreshing, informative, and put things into a great biblical perspective. In a society where money corrupts many who start out honest, I am thankful to know a true man of God who has a heart for people and lives by the principles of the word he preaches. He is also an upright man of business and leads teams with integrity. I have worked with Kevin in the business world and watched him make right decisions in tough times. He's a leader and he leads by example. I highly recommend this book for anyone who desires to move out of mediocrity and into their destiny.

Luis de la Calle Es director general y socio fundador de De la Calle, Madrazo, Mancera, S.C. (CMM). Previo a su trabajo en el sector privado fungio como subsecretario de Negociaciones Comerciales Internacionales en la Secretaria de Economia de Mexico; fue Ministro para Asuntos Comerciales de la Embajada de Mexico en Washington, D.C.; y laboró en el Banco Mundial como economista de pais para las republicas Checa y Eslovaca, Polonia y el antiguo Zaire. Es miembro de varios consejos de empresas y de institutos y asociaciones civiles y profesionales. Es habitual conferencista sobre comercio internacional, economia mexicana y otros campos de investigacion academica. Cuenta con amplia experiencia docente. Publica quincenalmente su columna Que mas? en el periodico El Universal. Estudio su licenciatura en Economia en el Instituto Tecnologico Auntonomo de Mexico (ITAM), y su maestria y doctorado en Economia en la Universidad de Virginia. Luis Rubio Es presidente de CIDAC. Escribe una columna semanal en Reforma y es frecuente editorialista en The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal y The Los Angeles Times. En 1985 recibio el premio "APRA" al mejor libro, en 1993 recibi´el "Premio Dag Hammarksjold" y en 1998 el "Premio Nacional de Periodismo". Es autor y editor de 42 libros.

Todos podemos llegar a ser clase media.

Este libro contiene infinidad de datos estadísticos sobre lo que significa ser clase media en México.

La clase media es definida por las aspiraciones de los individuos y cómo estas se reflejan en sus patrones de consumo : mejor educación, mejores servicios médicos, viajes , más consumo en entretenimiento, etc . Estas aspiraciones consisten en subir en la escala social mediante méritos conquistados ( meritocracia) en lugar de derechos heredados (como pueden ser aquellas familias que heredan trabajos de gobierno) .

Ser clase media tiene más que ver en cómo se vive, que con cuánto se gane, siempre y cuando esos ingresos cubran las necesidades básicas y exista un excedente para cubrir estas aspiraciones. Es decir puede haber personas que ganen como clase media y vivan como pobres, debido a sus hábitos de consumo (sí, conozco varios casos así).

Después de leer este libro no me quedo más que cambiar mi manera de pensar sobre el tema , porque antes no había tenido la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre el tema desde el punto de vista del comportamiento observado, y no desde las entradas de dinero. Simplemente me hizo cambiar el paradigma que tenía sobre el tema.

Clasemediero plantea una perspectiva diferente de ver el crecimiento de la sociedad media mexicana, explicando el origen de la mejora, en lugar del típico ingreso per capita, más hacia un cambio en la actitud y perfil de consumo.
